The War Academy is a Chinese military building in Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties.
Overview

The War Academy appears to be a Barracks, but it can train Infantry and Cavalry alike, costing the same as only 1 Barracks, or one Stable. The War Academy can train Banner Armies, which are Chinese armies consisting of normally 4-6 units of 2 different types. Banner armies are more expensive than a single unit, but they are normally quite cost efficient to make up for the fact that they cannot train a single type of unit. The only units that the Chinese can train alone and one at a time are the Flamethrower and the Hand Mortar. There are several Banner Armies, which can serve varying purposes. The only Banner armies the War Academy cannot train are armies containing Siege Units, which can be trained at the Castle, and Banner armies shipped from the home city.
UsefulnessEdit
- The Chinese can reduce the cost of their war academies and allied barracks by 30% through use of TEAM Art of War.
- The cost of war academies can further be reduced by 25% through the Spanish use of TEAM Cheap Barracks (barracks are 50% cheaper).
- On some maps the cost can be reduced by 20% through use of Tupi Forest Burning or by 25% through the use of Cree Textile Craftsmanship.
