The Wall of Troy is a type of wall that appears exclusively in the Greek part of the Fall of the Trident campaign in Age of Mythology. As its name suggests, this type of wall is found in the city of Troy. Its gates are named in-game as Gate of Troy.
The main focus of most of the Greek part of the campaign is to breach through these walls, and press an attack inside Troy.
However, while the mixed Achaean and Atlantean army manages to breach the western gate (the main focus in A Fine Plan), certain misadventures, namely two Trojan counterattacks on Ajax and Agamemnon's camp, eventually force them to try an alternative way in, by sneaking at night to the city via the Trojan Horse.
The Walls themselves are technically impregnable, as they combine near absolute resistances (99% against all types of damage) with enormous hit points. It should be noted that they are affected by upgrades that affect buildings and walls, so with Hades' bonus and Fortified Walls, their hit points increase further, over 4.500 to be precise.
The Gates of Troy on the other hand are easily sieged, as despite having over 2.000 hit points, their resistances are lackluster with 15% hack, 30% pierce, and 5% crush armor.
Many cities were built on the site archaeologists call Troy. Troy VI and Troy VII are likely candidates for the Troy of Homer's Illiad. The city was famed for its turreted walls and, being located in northwestern Turkey near the Dardanelles, was certain to be an important trade city.
- The Walls of Troy were originally based on the Middle Eastern architecture walls from Age of Empires II, most likely as a reference to the Byzantines. They also used a unique Lighthouse sharing the same textures, which is still located in the models.bar file, although it lacks a texture (which is obtainable from the Multiplayer Alpha).
