"Α temporary shelter that supports 10 population. They cannot be rebuilt if lost."—Age of Mythology description
The Tent is a House-type building in Age of Mythology that appears in some campaign scenarios, such as Scratching the Surface, and is also accessible in the Scenario Editor. Furthermore, players are granted four tents in the Sudden Death random map as compensation of the absence of additional Settlements. Similarly to the House, it provides 10 population, which is lost when it is destroyed.
They are used to represent military encampments, similarly to the Yurt and Pavilion from Age of Empires II, and have three separate models, depending on the player's culture; one for the Greeks, one for the Norse, and one for the rest of the civilizations (Atlanteans, Chinese, and Egyptians).
Soldiers and nomads need shelter from the elements as they travel. Tents were made of skins, canvas, wood and other commonly available, portable materials. The tents of high-ranking officers and nobles were often elaborately decorated and had fine furniture, rugs and other items of luxury within, all collapsible, of course.
- The Norse Tent shape slightly resembles a pit-house.
- Greek Tents roof had 3 lines, however this was changed to a Trident before release.
