Technology
From Age of Empires
Technology is the method of advancing in the Age of Empires Series. Technologies are usually grouped into a few categories:
- Unit upgrades - upgrading from Clubmen to Axemen (Age of Empires)
- Unit improvements - better armour or equipment for your units such as Chain Mail (Age of Empires II) or Counter Infantry Rifling (Age of Empires III)
- Economy upgrades - upgrades that help Villagers or Fishing boats in carrying more or harvesting faster, eg Wheel (AoE I) or Gill Nets (AoE III)
- Building upgrades - more hitpoints, faster construction, more damage etc, eg Watch Tower upgrades and so on.
There are also a few technologies that are miscellaneous, or go into several categories. Examples include Age upgrades, or also the Wheel, whilst making your villagers got 1/3 faster (thus less time running back to the Storage Pit) it also is a prerequisite for Chariots.
