The Slinger is a new light Infantry unit that is avaliable in the Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome expansion pack.

The Slinger is a ranged infantry unit that uses Stones as its main weapon. The Slinger can be used to fight and defend your civilization against early archers and Watch Tower attacks. The Slinger also has increased attack against enemy buildings such as Towers and Walls. Unfortunately the unit has low hit points so it doesn't last very long in most battles. Ships can kill them easily. They are easily overpowered by Bronze Age units and are often obsolete by that time.
