The Sioux or the Lakota were a Native American group that existed in the Great Plains and the Dakotas of North America in the New World. The Sioux are first featured in Age of Empires III and later presented as a playable civilization in The WarChiefs expansion.

The Lakota (as the Sioux are referred to in-game) are a Native American groups in the Western plains of the New World such as the Great Lakes, Great Plains, and the Rockies. The Sioux occupied large territories in North America, and also absorbed the "Great Plains" culture of their neighbors by becoming skilled buffalo hunters.

Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs Edit

The Sioux are one of the three Civilizations added in The WarChiefs Expansion Pack. Most of their military units are unique to them, with the exception of Canoes and War Canoes. The Sioux are known for their great cavalry. Unfortunately, the Sioux lack the artillery units that Europeans and Iroquois have access to.
