The Siege Tower is an Egyptian siege unit produced at the Siege Works and is available in the Heroic Age It can garrison up to five units that will boost its attack. Its main attack is with the ram at the front, and it also fires arrows at enemy units. It is devastating against buildings and has a high amount of pierce armor, making it almost invulnerable against ranged units and buildings. However it is vulnerable to infantry and cavalry. Its only method of defense against human soldiers is a volley of arrows that it fires, but this attack does little damage and won't fend off a group of soldiers. As such it's best to have an escort when attacking an enemy town. The Siege Tower is very durable so can easily withstand a prolonged battle if properly defended.
History
Edit
Siege weapons can destroy buildings, but are weak against other units, especially cavalry.
One of the machines developed to attack walled towns was the siege tower on wheels. This large wooden tower was covered with wet hids to minimize its vulnerability to fire. A battering ram was suspended inside for use against the wall the tower was moved against. The tower protected the men working the ram and other men shooting arrows into the town. When the wall was knocked down by the ram, the attacking army could enter the city.
