The Sea Fortification appears to take a 2x2 space, but in reality it actually consumes a 1x1 space like all towers. Appearance-wise, it appears as a sandstone tower in the African architecture added in The African Kingdoms, regardless of civilization. However, in Rise of the Rajas, the Southeast Asian civilizations get their own Sea Fortification graphics (see gallery).
Campaign appearances Edit
The African Kingdoms Edit
Sea Sortifications can be found in the last scenario of the Sundjata campaign, The Lion's Den, where they are owned by the enemy and present in the sea between the player and Koumbi Saleh, and in the coastline of the latter. They are present as defensive towers that cannot be outranged, not even by Cannon Galleons.
Rise of the Rajas Edit
They also appear in the second scenario of the Suryavarman I campaign, Quelling the Rebellion, where they are found in some (but not all) enemy camps and have to be destroyed in order to convert the rebels to the player's side.
Another appearance is in the Gajah Mada campaign, specifically at the fourth scenario (Serving the New King), when the Majapahit Empire tries to conquer Sulawesi and the eastern part of Borneo. They belong to the Kingdom of Luwu (yellow player).
- The statues found in the entrance of the Southeast Asian Sea Fortification resemble Chinese guardian lions (known as shī), a type of statue that was often found in prominent structures in China, such as palaces and government centers, whose symbolism spread throughout Southeast Asia and Japan.
