Phoenicia refers to an ancient kingdom located in the east Mediterranean. They are controlled by the Phoenicians who originated in present day Lebanon and are known for their excellent shipworking skills. They are a playable civilization in the first Age of Empires series. The Phoencicians are excellent in all areas of combat especially at sea but lack elite siege engine units, making them ineffective when combating heavily fortified areas on land. They are credited for creating the first human alphabet.
