Pestilence is a Greek Classical Age god power in Age of Mythology that is available to worshipers of Ares. When invoked, it causes military buildings in the target area to stop training units for 45 seconds. However, technologies can still be researched and civilian units can still be trained.

Pestilence is best used when attacking an enemy town. Once most of the enemy soldiers are killed, Pestilence should be invoked to ensure that the enemy cannot train units to replenish their army, leaving their town defenseless. It is most effective when used in an area filled with military buildings such as Barracks, Archery Ranges, etc. That being said, the best way to counter Pestilence is for players to spread out their buildings as much as possible so that some of them can continue producing units.
