|This article is about the technology. For the map, see Nomad.|
|Introduced in||The Forgotten|
|Research time||40 seconds|
|Effect||Houses do not lose population when destroyed|
Nomads is a technology in Age of Empires II: The Forgotten that is unique to the Mongols and can be researched at the Castle. Once researched, it makes Houses retain their population room after being destroyed. Castles and Town Centers, however, are not affected, and will need to be rebuilt in order to keep the population room. Nomads is probably the cheapest of all unique technologies, as it only costs wood. It also applies to Yurts and Pavilions, as they share the same function as Houses.
Its value is situational, for example when the player sends most of their army to attack an opponent and an enemy unexpectedly invades the player's village, Nomads becomes valuable as it helps save wood to replenish losses from an enemy siege.
It can also be used to remove clutter from a base by deleting Houses to ease the transit of Trade Carts and increase their efficiency. However, the player must make sure the Houses are not walling off enemies before doing this.
As of patch 5.5, the bonus applies even when partially built houses are deleted. This oversight allows players to quickly increase population space with minimal wood cost.
