|This article is about the building in Age of Mythology. For the building in Age of Empires II: The Conquerors, see Monument (Age of Empires II).|
God bonuses for Monuments are:
- Ra: Monuments are 25% cheaper and have 20% more hit points.
- Isis: Monuments have 20% less hit points, but block enemy players from using god powers in the surrounding area.
The five Monuments must be built in the order they appear below. If a player loses a Monument, they will have to rebuild it before subsequent Monuments can be built.
Monument to Villagers Edit
The smallest, cheapest, and weakest Monument, though it has the second highest favor-gathering rate.
Monument to Soldiers Edit
This second Monument can only be built when the player has a Monument to Villagers. It has the lowest rate of favor generation of all the Monuments.
Monument to Priests Edit
This medium-sized Monument cannot be built unless the player has both the previous Monuments. It has the fourth highest favor generation rate.
Monument to Pharaohs Edit
This large Monument cannot be built unless the player has the previous three Monuments. Has the third highest rate of favor generation.
Monument to the Gods Edit
This is the final and largest Monument with the fastest favor generation rate. It cannot be built unless the player has all the other Monuments. The Monument to the Gods comes in three different designs, one for each Egyptian major god.
On the box art of the original Age of Mythology game, there is what appears to be beta textures and new models for the Monuments. The Monument's textures are much like other Egyptian buildings, and it appears that a sphinx and an arch was planned to be included in the final game as Monuments.
"Ancient Egypt was a wealthy civilization largely isolated from external enemies and this allowed a lavish expenditure for Monuments and other edifices that glorified gods and pharaohs. For several thousand years, major construction projects were underway almost continually, for the glorification of some god or ruler. The Nile Valley today is dotted with Monuments of all sizes. The most famous of these are the Pyramids, the ultimate tombs, and the Sphinx."
