History[]
“ | The belief that there is only one God has evolved from the Persian religion of Zoroastrianism down through Judaism to many of the more popular religions of today. Whether monotheism is an advancement or not is a subjective question. The widespread popularity over time and the fervor of adherents indicates that monotheistic religions have more successfully met the requirements of a religion than other beliefs that have fallen aside. | ” |

Trivia[]
- The manual's history and the history sections for the Ascent of Egypt learning Campaign mention Zoroastrianism as the first monotheistic religion. This is contradicted when the game, also during the Egyptian campaign, mentions the short-lived Egyptian religion of Atenism (established in 1348 BC) which was created and vehemently implemented under Pharaoh Akhenaten and Queen Nefertiti, but was severely suppressed and wiped out under subsequent Pharaohs, who reinstated the older theocracy and the traditional polytheistic Egyptian pantheon.
