Mercantilism is a technology in Age of Empires III that can be researched at the Church (Mosque for the Ottomans, Basilica for the Italians). As soon as it is researched, the player will receive 2,000 XP.
Despite the upgrade text, the XP given is likely to provide at least two shipments. See the XP page for more details on the XP required per shipment.
Civilization differences[]
- The Japanese can build a Church with Church Wagon shipment by allying with the Dutch at the Consulate. Thus, they can research Mercantilism.
- The Ethiopians can gain access to the Church by allying with the Jesuits, while the Hausa can gain access to the Mosque by allying with the Moroccans. Both civilizations can research Mercantilism for 1,500 influence.
