Strategy
In battle, they are fairly weak compared to most Myth Units. Their attack, range, armour and hitpoints are all fairly low and they take up quite a bit of population. As such it isn't recommended to use them in direct combat. Instead they should be used as support to an army as they have the ability to turn enemy units neutral, in a similar way to the god power Chaos. It's important to remember that neutral does not mean allied and the neutral unit will attack the player if no other units are close by. This ability should be micromanaged to target powerful units in an enemy army and close to enemy towns. This will reduce the chances of enemy units attacking the player's units and instead have the now neutral unit dish major damage to their former allies. Training a group of Lampades can be quite effective, turning several units of an enemy army to neutral and causing them to fight each other. Neutral units will also lose any upgrades they possess, making them easier to kill. For Oranos worshippers, it is useful to select Hyperion as a minor god in the Heroic Age and Hekate for the Mythic Age, because the Chaos god power can supplement the Lampades' ability. Entire enemy armies will be lost to madness, leaving the enemy scrambling to replace their losses.
The blood of a Lampades is green and has the same general effect as Scarab blood once upgraded. Asper Blood should only be researched if the player plans on massing Lampades as the damage they'll deal when they die will be more significant. The Lampades also deal a small amount of crush damage allowing them to do some damage to buildings once most enemy units have been dealt with.
Mythology
Scientific name -- Nymphae hecati
Size -- Human-sized
Diet -- Pomegranate seeds, asphodel petals
These nymphs were the attendants of Hecate, an unbound Titaness, gifts from Zeus for her allegiance in the Titanomachy. The Lampades served their mistress unflinchingly, bearing torches for her through the dark places of the earth and underworld. The light of their torches brought visions to mortals and often the visions brought madness. The Lampades defended Hecate with their torches just as the Titaness herself fought in the wars of the gods.
