Fletching is a technology in Age of Empires II that can be researched at the Blacksmith. Once researched, it increases archer, Tower, Castle, and Galley attack and range by +1. Town Centers get +1 attack, but no range bonus. Bodkin Arrow is the further upgrade of this technology.
Civilization Bonuses
- Chinese: Fletching is 10%/15%/20% cheaper in the Feudal/Castle/Imperial Age.
- Spanish: Fletching doesn't cost gold.
History
The provision of feathers or other wind foils at the rear of an arrow was called fletching and this innovation improved the stability of an arrow in flight. Fletching increased the range and accuracy of the arrow. Wellmade arrows were essential to the success and effectiveness of archers.
