Name Fish
Amount of Food 250
Hit Points N/A
number of hunters

Fish are a common sight on any Age of Empires map with open expanses of water. They are quite common and provide plenty of food. Either a Villager or Fishing Boat can be used for Fishing, although a Villager can only reach Shore Fish. They have no hit points and do not fight back, making them ideal long-term food sources. Fish provide a good amount of food.

Types of Fish Edit

Age of Empires Edit

  • Shore
  • Salmon
  • Tuna

Age of Empires II Edit

  • Shore Fish - 200 food
  • Snapper - 225 food
  • Tuna - 225 food
  • Salmon - 225 food
  • Perch - 200 food
  • Dorado - 225 food
  • Marlin - 350 food
  • Dolphin - 350 food

The Shore Fish is the only fish that can be reached from the shore and only takes one tile. All the other fish are only found in deeper water and take 2x2 tiles. In the Scenario Editor, it is possible to stack fish, thus create practically inexhaustible sources of food.

Age of MythologyEdit

  • Salmon
  • Mahi-Mahi
  • Perch
  • Herring (Beta and Tale of the Dragon only)
  • Anchovy (Beta and Tale of the Dragon only)
  • Sharks (originally fishable)

Age of Mythology was the first game not to include shore-fishing (due to how rare fish spawn close enough to the shore line due to algorithims and their obstruction radii)

Age of Empires III Edit

  • Salmon
  • Cod
  • Bass
  • Mahi
  • Sardines
  • Tuna (Asian Dynasties only)
  • Carp (Asian Dynasties only)
  • Catfish (Asian Dynasties only)
  • Squid (Asian Dynasties only)
  • Mola mola (Asian Dynasties only)
