Shifting Sands is an Egyptian Classical Age god power in Age of Mythology that is available to worshipers of Ptah. When invoked, it instantly transports a group of units from one point on the map to another once activated.
Strategy[]
Shifting Sands may be used to move both the player's and enemy player's units; however, it will randomly select enemy units affected by the ability, and may not transport all of them. So it will not always eliminate an enemy army but it is still useful in thinning them out. When using it on the player's units, it can be used to ambush an enemy town by bypassing their defenses or to beat a retreat. When used on the enemy, it can transport them right in front of defensive structures or neutralize an ambush. When used on allied units, it can be used to help them defend the player's town or units. Shifting Sands has a reduced effect on enemy villagers and no effect on a Qilin, even an allied one. Allied Qilin will have to manually move to the desired location in this case.
Shifting Sands if used on enemy units can shift a minimum of 400 HP worth of units, up to a maximum of 3000 HP worth of units. If the player invoking Shifting Sands creates a walled off area surrounded by towers, this god power can potentially cause more damage than a Lighting Storm.
