Spits a single fireball from its mouth over a range of 14 meters that deals Area of Effect damage. Damage: 100 Hack, 50 Crush. Area: 6 meters. Recharge: 13 seconds.
Strategy[]
The Dragon Turtle has less armor and uses up more population than the amphibious Azure Dragon, but its special attack allows it to attack units close to the shore in intervals and slightly makes up for its restriction to water. The fireball also enables it to strike an incoming enemy before it can close in to attack. Dragon Turtles also cost food instead of gold (which becomes scarce by the Mythic Age) and require 12 less Favor to train. They also have more hit points, move slightly faster, and deal a large amount of crush damage, allowing them to destroy buildings much faster, even more so when supported by siege ships on the water and/or Fire Lances on land (the latter are even stronger under Shennong due to dealing Area of Effect damage).
The Dragon Turtle's main purpose is to maintain or regain control of the water on maps such as Midgard, River Nile, or River Styx. It can sink each type of ship one on one and is a valuable addition to the player's navy. The player can also supplement Dragon Turtles with Azure Dragons. They should be in turn protected from groups of hammer ships, other naval myth units (aside from the Servant, War Turtle, and Leviathan), enemy Azure Dragons (they have a damage multiplier of x3 versus the Dragon Turtle), and especially myth units with highly damaging or even instant-kill attacks such as the Nereid, Mummy, and Medusa; as well as heroes such as the Argo, Polyphemus, and Son of Osiris who will defeat it one on one.
Initially, Dragon Turtles had a different special attack that dealt no area damage and could not target villagers. This was changed in patch 2.0.
Initially, Dragon Turtles dealt no bonus damage against myth units. With patch 2.7, they deal double damage to myth units.
Mythology[]
โ
Original Name -- Longgui Size -- Up to 25 feet in length Diet -- Fish and smaller sea creatures
The Dragon Turtle is a mythological creature whose appearance resembles both the Azure Dragon of the East and the Black Turtle of the South, as it bears the head of the former and the body of the latter.
Ancient cultures believed the Dragon Turtle was a symbol of prosperity and longevity, but also symbolized courage and determination, which can be attributed to its fierce-looking appearance and rock-hard shell.

Trivia[]
The Dragon Turtle was chosen over the Black Turtle of the North as the fourth Chinese Mythic Age Myth Unit as the alternate choice would be too similar to the Egyptian's War Turtle.
The in-game history section indicates that the Black Turtle represented the South. In reality, it represented the North, while the Vermilion Bird is representative of the South.
Before patch 2.7, Docks could not attack Dragon Turtles due to a bug.
