He is based on an eponymous Vietnamese historical figure (Đinh Lễ (? - 1427)), who was Lê Lợi's nephew. He is brave, more cunning, more martial arts. When young, Đinh Lễ used to be the bodyguard for Lê Lợi. He and Lê Lai were among the first men to join Lê Lợi's Lam Sơn insurgent army. He is also one of Lê Lợi's most trusted men. Lễ was captured by the Ming because he sunk into the mud of My Động, and executed by the Ming in July 9, 1427, for refusing to surrender.
