Overview
Edit
The Cherokee are available as allies on the Bayou, Carolina, Ozarks and New England maps. Once a trading post is built at their camp, a player can recruit Cherokee riflemen and research available upgrades.
Units
Edit
The Cherokee rifleman is a skirmisher type unit, able to hit heavy infantry hard and then retreat from them if the speed upgrade has been purchased. They have less range than a true skirmisher but have higher hit points and are available in the Colonial Age. They can have their cost reduced to less than a skirmisher through use of home city cards, making them very cost effective versus a true skirmisher.
Upgrades
Edit
Cherokee upgrades focus on boosting allied economies and the speed of all native warriors. The settlement also possesses the basic upgrades for Cherokee riflemen.
Cherokee War Dance (Discovery Age): Improves native warrior speed by 20%.
Cost:200 Wood , 200 Coin
Sequoyah's Cherokee Syllabary (Discovery Age): Sends a shipment of 4 settlers.
Cost: 200 Wood , 200 Coin
Cherokee Basket Weaving (Discovery Age): Dock, market, mill and plantation improvements have their wood cost removed.
Cost: 100 Food , 100 Coin
Cherokee Warrior Societies (Fortress Age): Cherokee attack and HP raised by 25%.
Cost: 200 Wood , 150 Coin
Cherokee Champions (Industrial Age): Cherokee attack and hitpoints raised by 40%.
Cost: 400 Wood , 300 Coin
Usefulness
Edit
- The basket weaving upgrade is extremely useful if using a water boom strategy, as economic upgrades will not cut into wood stockpiles used for training more fishing boats.
- The upgrade is also useful for the Indians due to their villagers costing wood.
- All native tribes can only be upgraded to Legendary/Exalted status at the town center or capitol, they can be upgraded to Elite/Disciplined or Champion/Honored for free through some home city shipments.
- Civilizations can remove the upgrade gold costs, or cut the upgrade costs in half depending on their home city cards.
