The Carcinos is an aquatic Greek myth unit available during the Mythic Age and is trained at the Dock. It is available to worshipers of Hera. They attack with their ferocious pincers, dealing both hack and crush damage, making them effective against both normal units and buildings. This makes them very difficult to kill. As long as they avoid getting too close to shore they will not be able to be attacked by most heroes. They have quite a bit of armor and hitpoints so it will take several ships to defeat them. In addition they have the fastest attack of any naval myth unit so can combat other myth units in the water easily.
As myth units, Carcinos gain bonus damage against both human units (ships) and other myth units, but are slain quickly by heroes.
Though Hera provides no Carcinos-specific upgrade, her Monstrous Rage improvement will grant them increased damage.

During Heracles' battle with the hydra, Hera summoned a crab to attack Heracles and aid the hydra. Although Heracles defeated both hydra and crab, Hera rewarded the crustacean by placing it as a constellation up in the night sky. Latin for "crab" is "cancer," and in Greek it is "Karkinos" -- from where derives the word "carcinogen."
