Canyons is divided by cliffs ranging each players initial base a mere triangle. Expansion lies outside the cliffs to the northeastern and southwestern sections of the map, where the terrain is relatively flat. Players in the northwestern and southeastern corners are spearheaded by shallows from a river running in that direction. Elephants and Zebras roam the map. Forest are similar to that of Arabia, small woodlines dispersed all over the map. Gold and Stone are scattered in the corners of the map with little resources in the middle except for fish.
It is advisable to wall up the player's section of the map using the cliffs to help form a natural wall. Players in the northwestern and southeastern sections of the map have the easiest access to the water. They should build fishing ships but not over-commit to fishing ships as the water lanes are narrow and sparse with fish. Landings are possible by Transport Ship so the water players should take caution and either tower or wall up the water. Most of the fighting will occur in the flat plain sections of the map, running adjacent to the river. Players in the top sections of the map should act as springboard in the Springboard strategy or sling their resources to other players on either flank. Feudal aggression is advised to throw the opponents off, targeting the pocket player is key as they can easily wall themselves and act as slings. Fast Imperial can be utilized by the pocket player to aid in swiftly removing one or two enemy flanks.
