Bracer is a technology in Age of Empires II that can be researched at the Blacksmith once the Imperial Age is reached. Once researched, it increases archer, Tower, Castle, and Galley attack and range by +1. Town Centers get +1 attack, but no range bonus.

Bracer is available to all civilizations except for the Celts, Franks, Malians, Persians, Slavs, and Teutons.

Civilization BonusesEdit

Trivia Edit

  • It is conspicuous that most of the civilizations that lack Bracer have access to the Paladin. The Slavs and Malians, both lacking Paladins, also lack Bracer due to the presence of Boyars and Farimba, respectively.

History Edit

"The bracer was a hard leather guard worn on an archer’s forward hand. This improvement had the duel advantage of supporting the wrist, which would grow quite weary after many shots, and protecting the inside of the arm from the fletching of launched arrows. Without protection, the arm could be cut over the course of many shots and weaken the archer to the point of taking him out of combat. The bracer was an important improvement for archers that made them more effective."
