    In Age of Empires 3, and Age of Mythology, various objects that don't fit the categories of Units, Nature or Buildings typically go in the Embellishments section (It is called "Other" in AoE1 and AoE2, but functions the same)

    Similarly, categories should be arranged like this.


    Bridges, Statues, Ruins, and any other decorative object should be arranged into the embellishment category.

While plural form and capital letters in category names (Beta Units, not Beta unit) have been agreed upon, there is one more thing I want to discuss before changing the categories, as doing so is sometimes quite a bit of work.

    Tree Naming

    In Age of Mythology and Age of Empires III all trees are named based on a prefix (Tree) and their Map name (i.e Tree - Oak) in AoM the prefix + name is based on the species/type i.e Tree - Oak, Tree - Pine Dead, Tree - Marsh, however these are reserved purely for the Scenario Editor and are otherwise name Tree Oak, Dead Pine Tree, etc. In AoE3 they are based entirely on the prefix + biome/rms (Random Map/Script)

    For format purposes We are going to name them on their prefix, but in the starting sentence both names will be used like in this example: "The Oak Tree (or called Tree - Oak in the Age of Mythology scenario editor) is a tree that appears in Age of Empires, Age of Empires II and Age of Mythology."

    In order to make the AoM section of the wikia somewhat more updated, what would you think about adding strategy and tech tree section for the Major Gods, similarly to the ones in the Age of Empires II civilization pages?

    I edited the strategy part of the Pavise page. However it is somewhat similar as the Leather Archer Armor upgrade. I was wondering about which techs in general should have priority and if we should add it to the respective pages. In general I think the wiki does not adress which priority upgrades should be given.


    I think that in a crossbow vs. Knight situation, I would think it would be sensible to prioritise going Imperial before doing Leather Archer Armor and  Pavise, while in crossbow vs. crossbow battles I would surely get these defensive upgrades (with these upgrades your crossbows thake only 4 damage from enemy crossbows). Another matchup which might be worthwile to consider is what to do with mixed armies? If you go for crossbows+pike…

    As stated I'd like content to be larger articles combining smaller content pieces. Like you dont need an article for crush armor if you can explain how fights work out in one big article, explaining attack- and armor-types, hp, attack multipliers and how line upgrades, armory upgrades and special upgrades work out changing such values.

    As such I'd like to combine various articles into one, like Healer, Hit Points and Regeneration.

    Portable infoboxes

    Many of the infoboxes on the wiki are not optimized for mobile viewing, so I've been thinking about remaking them using the new infobox markup. This page has more information, but basically, the reason for doing this is that the infoboxes will show up properly when viewed on a mobile phone.

    They'll be used in the same manner, with the same input, but they won't look quite the same. I've applied it to the Wildlife infobox, giving us the before and after pictures.

    The infoboxes will follow the wiki's default theme, meaning they'll look pretty much the same. You can use themes on indiviual infoboxes to change this, but I wasn't planning on spending time on that at this point.

    What do people think? Should I go ahead and do this or not?

    Shamanism is the Castle Age unique technology for the Anasazi. Once researched, Monasteries will regenerate health over time. 


    While it would have limited usage outside of a Monk Rush, it could be useful if a raiding party attacked a Monastery and left abruptly. The Monastery would heal without any need for a Villager to repair it. In the post-Imperial Age, it would useful to have alongside their Imperial Age unique technology, Pueblos. Military buildings would fire arrows at the enemy, while the Monasteries would heal if the enemy retreated.

    Hello everyone, as many may know, many Age of Mythology pages have been categorised, based on the expansion they appear (e.g Atlanteans is categorised in The Titans, whereas Deep Jungle is added to the Tale of the Dragon category). This serves a practical purpose, as a person who is interested in an expansion may find any related information about it, especially important if he/she is interested in purchasing it.

    MasterBroccoli suggested this should also be done for Age of Empires II expansions. I definetely agree with that, as AoE II is the most expansion-heavy game in the series, with many features being scattered between expansions (for example, amphibious maps in Rise of the Rajas, African Kingdoms introduced early game naval units, etc..).…

    Guaizi Ma is a unique Castle Age tech available to the Jurchens that can be researched in the Castle.  It allows Stable units and Iron Pagodas to deal 5 trample damage to adjacent enemies.


    Guaizi Ma is the main tech for the Jurchen cavalry.  It allows all Stable units (Paladins, Hussars, and Heavy Camels) and Iron Pagodas to deal trample damage to adjacent units, making Jurchen cavalry very formidable in large battles when armies clump up together.  Keep in mind that Blacksmith techs should be researched beforehand, considering that Guaizi Ma happens to be more expensive than the Jurchen's Imperial Age tech, Huo Pao.

     The Imperial Hand Cannoneer is a second unique unit for the Jurchens.  It can be trained at the Archery Range in the Imperial Age.  As an upgrade to the Hand Cannoner, it's an anti-infantry gunpowder unit.


    The Imperial Hand Cannoneer is basically a stronger version of the Hand Cannoner in terms of HP, damage, and accuracy.  But the biggest strength of the Imperial Hand Cannoneer is their higher attack bonus versus infantry and their ability to deal melee damage (combined with the Hand Cannoneer's bonus damage versus Rams, enemy Rams will end up quickly destroyed).  This makes the Jurchens having the most formidable anti-infantry capacity that help make up for the lack of Thumb Ring and the Champion upgrade.  That being said, the Jurchens s…

    I recently noticed that there were some howdah links on AoE2 pages to the ambitious page. So I changed that, Then I realized that the same problem would be there for the AoE3 page. So I also fixed some of those pages. If there are some AoE3 articles with links to howdah, they might contain the wrong link.

    Hey i find the tech tree tab for the civilisations rather lackluster and confusing, so i suggest some changes:

    First of all, because not all players know the full tech tree by heart, they can't see at first glance which technologies are missing for the respective civilisation, so i plan on filling in the full tech tree to all civilisations

    Once the entire form is done, it would be easy to copy it to all civilisations and just the unavailable ones would have to be manually stroke through, plus unique units would have to be added

    My thought process behind creating the class and changing all the infoboxes: Armor classes are one of the least explained features of the game, the only information we are given in-game is that certain units have an attack bonus versus others, but neither is it explained how much exactly (not even flat addition or multiplier).     Om Mani Padme Hum is a Tibetan unique tech that can be researched in the Castle in the Imperial Age. Once researched, it changes the Monk cost from 100 gold to 100 food instead, making Tibetan monks trash units.

    Amitabha is a Castle Age unique tech available to the the Tibetans that can be researched in the Castle. Once researched, Monks are granted +1 range and regain their faith 20% faster after a successful conversion.


    Amitabha strengthens the Tibetan Monk rush during the Castle Age, as it grants Monks an additional range and regenerate their faith 20% faster after a successful conversion.  This means that a Monk can convert a unit in a further distance, giving Tibetan Monks a total of 13 conversion range when Block Printing is researched in Imperial Age.  The Monk's healing range is also increased by 1 as well, giving Monks a safer distance for healing units.  The faster faith regeneration combined with Illumination means Tibetan Monks can pref…

    Pueblos is the Imperial Age unique technology for the Anasazi. When researched, it causes all military buildings to fire arrows.

    Barracks fire one arrow, Archery Ranges five, and Siege Workshops three.



    Pueblos would be particularly useful, since the Anasazi are an archer civilization, and Archery Ranges would most likely be built as close to the enemy lines as possible. However, Barracks would be built near enemy lines too, since the Anasazi possess decent Eagle Warriors as well. Causing both of these buildings to fire arrows would give added protection to the unit production, especially since military buildings are usually built in clusters.
