The Anubite is a jackal-headed, hand-scythe-wielding Myth Unit available to Egyptian worshippers of Anubis, the Classical Age deity. Anubites are fast, relatively cheap units that have fairly good armor. Anubites possess a special ability which consists of jumping to attack an enemy, ensuring that the Anubite will strike first in any given combat and allowing the unit to engage enemies that are protected by walls, even though it is a melee unit. Anubites that have been massed in large numbers early in the game can cause a lot of damage, due to their jumping ability. The ability to jump massed Anubites over walls gives a large advantage to players early in the game, especially against players employing the Turtle strategy. This can disrupt economies early in the game when players have small amounts of villagers, but is less useful in the later ages when you might run into an army during an Anubite raid.
They are decent fighters in the Classical Age but become somewhat less useful in later ages. They can be upgraded to Guardian Anubites with the Feet of the Jackal upgrade, giving them extra attack, health and the ability to jump further.
